Scrap the Girls December 2018

Pick one Dress and be inspired by it!

I was inspired by the blue dress with Santa and the snowflakes on it.

I started with a wreath from Created by Gwen - sponsor for this month.

I painted it with Prima's Opal Magic Acrylic blue-violet paint and them pounced over it with white

gesso to give that snowy look!

The photo was from quite a few years ago but I thought it fit the theme really well!!

I backed the wreath with paper from Kaisercraft's Indigo Blue collection.

The word Wish was also from Created by Gwen and I backed that with Christmas paper from Maja

Designs( the  particular paper collection was from quite a few years ago ).

The reindeer were diecut( Sizzix) and I sprinkled them with glitter!

Lots of choice with this month's moodboard!!

Pick your favourite dress and go for it!!

November Scrap The Girls 2018

the challenge this month is to get Lost and be inspired by your favourite fairy tale!

I was inspired by the lovely mauve toned dress and the story of Cinderella!
The photo of my daughter for her year 12 ball was perfect!!
( However there was no wicked stepmother on the scene!!)

I had some left over Papers from Blue Fern Studios - Courtship Lane.
I fussy cut the flowers and layered them in with the paper layers beneath the photo.

I sprayed some mixed media paper with Prima Color Bloom Iris and ran it through my trusty big shot machine with a die I bought at Woocraft(mandurah). Then made a stack of matching die cuts to adhere it to, to give it height( read that somewhere on the internet!)
Then I sprinkled glue and glitter on it!

I bought the mould for the Disney castle and Paper Clay at Woocraft in Mandurah. Once it was dry I painted it with Jane Davenport 's Acrylic Purple Paint, mixed with a little white acrylic paint. Then the glue sprinkle and glitter.

In the background I used Golden Texture Paste, mixed with Prima Art Ingredients Purple Mica Powder. I put it through the Dutch DooBadoo star stencil which I had originally bought for my Christmas cards!!
Every fairy tale involves stars somewhere I think!!

My chipboard title was from ScrapFX and I coloured it the same way as the castle
I can't remember where I got the glitter Dot for my journaling tag.

The glitter which I even sprinkled in the texture paste before it dried was from; Barbara Tromley Original Art Glittering System, Ultra Fine Azure Transparent ( from the United States but I have no idea where or when I bought it!! LOL)

I edged my papers and flowers with Tsukineko Brilliance DewDrop Pearlescent Purple ink.

Took me ages to settle on a design for this challenge but once it started to flow I really enjoyed myself!!

The sponsor for this month is the Resin Rainbow.

We all have our favourite fairy tale! It will be such fun to scrap about it and you may win the prize!!

I absolutely love Pink so I jumped at this opportunity!!
I had the perfect photo of my son in his borrowed pink bike helmet !!
He was and still is such a gorgeous young man!!

I had fun with Tim Holtz's oxide inks, and  also die cuts from  Created by Gwen.

I created this page while at a lovely retreat in Carmel, Western Australia -  Gumnuts Guesthouse.

The ambience there was so relaxing and supportive and I can highly recommend a visit.

Breast Cancer Awareness month "Fight"

I was inspired by the colors and the wording - be brave, be strong, be badass!

My daughter and I are definitely strong, and brave and I think we have the potential to be badass!!

Rikki Grazziani  (Justtoobsessed) taught me the background technique, using Dylusion Inks on a pre patterned resist board from Heidi Swapp.

When the ink is dry you rub over parts with a baby wipe which lets the pattern underneath show  through.

It was great fun!

The sponsors this month are Corbett Creations, CUT To YOU and the international sponsor is Accent Scrapbooking.

As Krisy says be breast aware !

July Scrap The Girls

 July moodboard titled "Dark Inside"

I was inspired by the poppies and the theme of sad girls.

The poppies are from Dusty Attic and I foiled them with my Couture Creations Go Press and Foil

 machine and red Foil.

The color in the background was done using the  plastic wrapping technique  with mica powders and water.

I hate my writing so  I used my dynamo machine for the journalling.

Here is a close up of the poppies.

It should be lots of fun with this mood board - you can use some aspects of it or all of it.

Plenty of inspiration on Scrap The Girls blogspot so check it out and have a go .

June Scrap The Girls

Scrap The Girls

I was inspired by the heart, the friendship theme and  the blue of the sea.

Kaisercraft Indigo Skies Collection papers were used.

I first stencilled the page with  a Prima stencil and Golden Moulding paste.

When it was dry I used the cellophane technique with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides Broken China, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and water.

Then I also coloured some cheese cloth and  burlap ribbon.  I cut my base papers from the Shibori, Chambray and Storm papers.

I embossed my chipboard hearts (WOW?) and title( 2 Crafty) with Altenew Crisp Embossing Powder Pure white.

Before laying it all down I flicked Liquitex white ink and Black ink  on the base page.

Then I sprinkled Prima Art Ingredients Glass beads Turquoise and Dress My Craft sequins Sea Breeze about the page.

I really enjoyed putting this one together  as it brings fond memories of a great night out!!

Looking forward to seeing what others create with this moodboard!

Scrap The Girls May challenge

Scrap The Girls May challenge

I was inspired by the pink and gold, flowers and party theme!!

This is also a tribute to my mum, who passed away at 93 years of age on the 15th December 2017.
I acknowledge that we were blessed to have had her generous, beautiful self with us for so long into  our adult lives. However losing her has  still been  devastating!
I think this photo captures how happy and loving she was, always laughing and giving us her beautiful hugs and smiles. It was always a happy time when Mum was around!!

Lots of fussy cutting with this one!!

The papers I used were from Studiolight- Shabby Chic collection
and various washi tapes in my collection!
The pink heart came from Corbett Creations and Rainbow Splendour
The chipboard letters are Kasazz .
I covered them with gold foil using my Couture Creations Go Foil and Press Machine
I backed the photo with gold glitter tape edging some cardstock.

I enjoyed putting this page together!!

I would love to see your take on this month's moodboard!

Stick It Down April 2018 Inspiration

April Stick It Down single page sketch challenge

Initially I wasn't too happy about cutting these photos down but I'm really pleased with how the layout captures my absolute joy at the time, and how gorgeous my little boy was( and still is though he would disagree with the adjective at 23 years of age now!!)
Paper was Maja Designs Denim and Friends
chipboard Arrows Dusty Attic
the ink was Tim Holtz Distress Oxide
the ribbon from Tilda
and the title ( scrapFX) was smooshed with the ink and then clear embossing powder over the top!
So glad I took these photos now!

Off The Rails March Tutorial - How I made my Canvas Wall Art.

Off The Rails Scrapbooking challenge site

I enjoyed making my Canvas Art for the February Moodboard so I thought I would share how I did it!
The photo is of Direction Island, one the Cocos Keeling Islands way out in the Indian Ocean. Fabulous place for a holiday if you like the beach and snorkelling!

My inspiration to use the thongs was because the beaches on the ocean side of the lagoon were littered with flotsam and jetsam including many many abandoned thongs!!

All about the islands there were pretty cool art creations using this junk!

I came home with a hankering to do something similar and am really pleased with the result!

I used a 14 x 14 inch canvas which had been triple primed so my first step was to apply texture paste through a stencil.

I used Golden Gel Medium Light Moulding Paste over a Tim Holtz Layering Mini Stencil( the brick pattern coming from the moodboard).

I usually leave my projects with moulding paste overnight to dry but one can use a heat tool if one has the patience!!

Once dry I painted strips with Jane Davenport Acrylic Paints

It was at this time that I thought maybe a coat of white gesso on the canvas before I started might have been a good idea as it took a few coats of paint to give the colour that I was happy with.

My next step was to lightly coat my chipboard and title with white Gesso.
I also coated the outer sides of my photo mat.

 I cut some cheesecloth

and distressed the edges with my fingers

I chose blue for the outer edges of my photo mat

I played around  with where I wanted to place my photo and other features and once I was happy with the placement I took a photo, so I could reference back to it later.
I don't know if other people work this way but I find it helpful.

I thought the white made a good contrast so I embossed my chipboard and title with Versamark Ink and Altenew Crisp Embossing Powder - Pure White.

The chipboard was Blue Fern studios Chipboard  - Seaside Shells
the title Kaszazz Chipboard word - Timeless

Once this was all  done it was time to lay it all down!!

I glued the thongs down with a hot glue gun.

I  layered the base of my photo with strips of cardboard so that the photo would sit flat across the canvas between the two thongs!

I encountered the same issue with the Kaisercraft Paper Blooms- Sea Breeze but I just layered up the double sided foam mount

The chipboard and title I attached with Prima Art Basics 3d Matt Gel

I also used the gel too, with a fine paintbrush to stick down the sequins( Dress My Sequins - Sea Breeze).

Voila!!

This canvas now hangs in my home, a lovely reminder of the fab holiday we had in 2014!!!

I had  great fun making this canvas!

I would really encourage you to give a go!

Worst comes to worst and you don't like where it is going  you can just cover it all with a layer or
two of gesso and start again!!

Stick It Down March 2018 Inspiration

Stick It Down March single page challenge for 2019

I saw this as a great opportunity to scrap some of my January Canada holiday!!

I went out of my comfort zone and played with Faber-Kastell Gelatos  and really enjoyed myself!!

 Gelatos I used were :-

Elderberry

Kiwi

Strawberry

Fig

After covering the page with White gesso I applied the Gelatos and water, then dropped salt on while

still wet.

Then when dry, I  rubbed off the salt and used wet wipes over a couple of stencils.

The chipboard words were from Kasazz.

I painted them with white gesso and again, when dry coloured with the same Gelatos.

The sequins were Beads Neezs, which I bought from a Patchwork and gift shop in Port Lincoln South Australia.(Ruby and Kate)

I love how they reflect the colour of whatever they are on. I'll be looking for more of them!

All in all pretty pleased with this page.

Would love to see how others create with this sketch!

Scrap The Girls March Inspiration

I had the ideal photo for this challenge,my daughter, face painted as a tiger, giving out that exact message!!

I used the lyrics from Helen Reddy's famous song as my title!

I had great fun playing around with Tim Holtz Oxide inks over a prima stencil(woven).

The technique I used was demonstrated in a video by Emma Zappone. ( using a small plastic bag to apply the zinc oxide to your page)- thanks Emma for the reminder about that technique!

I also used papers from Maja Design's Denim and Friends Collection.

Stamps were from Carabelle Art Studio Art Stamps "Dood'l Art"

The red thickers were from American Crafts " Rain Boots" and the black were Amy Tangerine.

I rarely scrap yellow as I find it hard to work with but this photo fitted the mood board perfectly!!
It was definitely a benefit to go out of my comfort zone for this one!!
people should have lots of fun with this mood board!
