making a Flourish for your page or card.

a great way to create another layer for your page or card is to create something yourself.
I made this flourish for my Steampunk page.

.
Step 1 - gather your supplies

non stick mat
silicone mould of choice
Anna Griffin Embossing Paste- White Finish
In this case I used Finnabair Art ingredients Mica Powder - Rust
My trusty spatula !

Step 2

I scooped up a generous dollop of Embossing paste and added some of the Mica Powder-
A little goes a long way.

I wasn't totally sure how the colour would turn out but it I knew it would be in the brown tones which I needed for my page

Step 3
Mix it well

It looked weird at first but it dried to a beautiful chocolatey colour which suited me perfectly

Step 4
Swipe the paste across the silicone mould as one does for texture paste and stencils.
Be careful not to have too much over the edges of the pattern.
I left it overnight to dry properly.

Step 5
Gently remove from the mould

when you take it out it is quite flexible
step 6

I found I needed to tidy up some of the edges with a scalpel.

and there you have it

There is quite a range of silicone moulds available , feathers, leaves, lace etc.

Here is a link  from the store I bought my supplies from which shows in much greater detail all the great things you can do with this technique.

hope you have enjoyed

More Than Words Challenge September2017

More Than Words September challenge - Fearless and Grunge

More Than Words definition of Grunge

"-GRUNGE is defined as a deliberately untidy and uncoordinated style. Whether it focuses on dark colours, a distressed or stained look, punk graffiti, messy designs, one thing's for certain... you have to not be scared of taking risks."

I decided to be FEARLESS and tackle an art journal page as I haven't done one for ages because
I worry about which layer to put  first and whether it will be good enough! ( even though I have watched countless videos about it!!).
Being FEARLESS I chose 3 colors that I rarely use, and being deliberately untidy and uncoordinated enabled me to be FEARLESS about how I did it  and this stopped all the  worry.
I even signed my name to it!!
Quite empowering really!
Thanks More Than Words for showing me a new way to tackle things!!
 I thoroughly enjoyed myself !!!
I think I shall incorporate being FEARLESS more often!!!

Steam Punk - Off The Rails Challenge for september2017

my first DT Reveal for  Off the Rails Scrapbooking challenge

the Mood Board is Steam punk

I chose a photo of my daughter when she was just getting mobile to demonstrate that being a girl

doesn't mean you have to stick with " girl themes"!!

( although I couldn't stay away from flowers!!)

I was inspired by a class I did with Di Garling recently.

The Prima papers and some of the flowers  came from a kit put together by Prima Designer Cari

Fennell, though the finished product is very different to the design in the kit.

I mixed Finnabair 3D Gloss Gel with Finnabair  Art Ingredients  Mica Powder - Rust

and applied that through a Kaisercraft Stencil to get that lovely shiny look to the cogs.

I also mixed the Finnabair Rust Mica Powder with Anna Griffin Embossing Paste  to get that lovely

chocolatey  look to the flourishes at the top and bottom of the page.

Scrap The Girls September 2017 challenge

Scrap The Girls

I ran with the travel theme for this one.

I started playing  around with my new Dylusional Paints and it went from there.

The stamp behind the photos reminded me of architecture I saw in Toronto, Canada.

I really had fun with this one!! It strayed a bit from the sketch  but I am happy with the end result!
Chipboard from Dusty Attic and stamps from ArtStamps www.carabelle-studio.fr
The world stamp is Kaisercraft.

The prizes are awesome this month-from Kitaholic Kits and D-lish Scraps so why not give it a go!
