Stamps&Stencils blogspot September Challenge

The September challenge for "Stamps & Stencils blogspot " required the theme "up up and away with a twist", the twist being one must use autumnal colors.

I used techniques I was taught at a recent class by Limor Webber, a talented artist from Canada.

I was originally thinking of some sort of balloon, but when I used the birdy stamp in the background I realised the way the bird was designed on the stamp suited the style of the lesson I learned quite well!

 

 

As you can see, I used a feather stencil with whipped spackle, and a bird themed stamp prior to painting my canvas.

Art Culture Acrylic Paints- Pearl Orange, Cool Red, Magenta, Mettalic Red, Raw Sienna and Metalic Gold ( awesome autunmal colors I think)

 

Liquitex Professional Ink- Yellow Medium azo, Titanium White, Raw Umber and Carbon White.

 

I'm really happy with how this turned out. I was really tempted to try my new Faber-Kastell glass bead gel to highlight tail feathers and put in a wing but as I haven't used it yet I  decided to leave well enough alone!!

 

Thanks again to Limor for teaching me these cool techniques. Finger painting is so much fun! As is dropping ink splatters from a height and flicking ink with my paint brush!!

One can imagine the state of my craft room!!

I must remember to put my good stuff away when I'm making these canvas's!!
